This piece titled "Short-lived Victory" is based on impacts of the negative side of the horse racing industry on the welfare of thoroughbreds. The title of this work refers to how easily disposable some of these horses can be despite once being seen as champions of victory. While not all aspects of horse racing are harmful or cruel, the industry is not as glamorous as the media portrays it to be.
